Terms of Use

Last updated 9 October 2026

These terms govern your use of Talk Yorùbá (talkyoruba.com), operated by Wigmorean Inc., Woodbridge, Virginia, United States (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What Talk Yorùbá is

Talk Yorùbá offers courses for learning the Yorùbá language: lessons, recordings by native speakers, flashcards and practice tests. The same courses are also offered through partner sites, such as universities, schools and community organisations.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you register and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us at once at info@ifa.university if you think someone else has used your account.
  • If you are under 18, use the site with the permission of a parent or guardian, or through a school that has arranged it. Children under 13 may use the site only in that way.

3. Using the site fairly

Please do not:

  • copy, download in bulk, redistribute or sell the lessons, recordings, questions or answers;
  • use automated tools to scrape the site or its API, or try to get at the answer keys;
  • share answers to graded quizzes or examinations, or take them for someone else;
  • attempt to break into, overload or disrupt the site;
  • post or send anything unlawful, abusive or disrespectful of others or of Yorùbá culture.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

4. Our content

The courses, text, translations, recordings, images and software on this site belong to us or to the people who contributed them, and are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning. Teachers may use them with their own students through a partner site or with our written permission. Any other use needs our written permission.

5. Contributions

If you contribute to the courses — for example by recording audio as a narrator, or by suggesting a correction — the terms of your contributor agreement with us apply. If there is no separate agreement, you keep ownership of your contribution and give us a worldwide, royalty-free, permanent licence to use, edit and publish it as part of the courses and on partner sites, with credit where practical.

6. Partner sites

When you use the courses through a partner site, that site’s own terms and policies also apply, and the partner decides who may take part. If the partner awards grades or credit, the partner — not us — is responsible for those grades, transcripts and any academic decisions. We mark quiz answers on the partner’s behalf and send the results to the partner.

7. Fees

Some courses or features may be offered for a fee. If so, the price and what it includes will be shown before you pay, together with any refund terms.

8. Accuracy

We work hard to make the lessons accurate, including their tone marks, and we correct mistakes when we find them — please tell us if you see one. The courses are for learning; they are not a professional translation or interpreting service, and you should not rely on them where an exact translation matters (for example for legal, medical or official documents).

9. No warranty

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, if anything, in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Ending

You can stop using the site and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if we stop offering the site, and we will try to give notice where we can.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings there.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell account holders by email or on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
